100/80w bulbs

Are these safe to use?(I hear rumours dealers use these??)I currently have 55w which are terrible, i have new reflectors but just want to have better lights as a temporary fix before replacing reflectors etc, many thanks!

Best bet is to use relays. You can buy a relay harness which plugs into the existing wiring and only needs a feed from the battery - contains the relay and inline fuse.

Yes use relays, I fitted them (with relays & chunky wires) to a beetle years ago. Made a big difference, was worth the effort.

Don't fit 80/100W bulbs without using a relay and separate supply. The power wire connector from the control box in the boot is marginal and tends to burn with standard bulbs. High wattage ones will burn out the connector.

Do Cerbs have 7" Mini headlamps?

I can't even begin to tell you how much more modern they look on a V8S with the clear front lenses. They are way cheaper here too than anywhere else and very easy to fit. Brighter too

I use relays trippped by the original wiring so that I can use a bigger cable (less voltage drop) from the battery. I also did this for the two cooling fans.

For bulbs I bought some PIAA rally bulbs, still only 55/60w but very bright. Not sure if those mini lights would fit, but they might. on the Cerb the reflector is seperate (from a Scania truck I think) from the front lense. I'm sure someone has fitted VW Lupo lights to a cerb or chim?

Try Osram Nightbreaker plus bulbs. Far more light than standard but still standard power.
Cleaning/replacing the reflector/lens will make a big difference!

If you do use higher wattage bulbs you must fit relays! The previous owner of my Cerb didn't bother doing the job properly and the wiring at the control box was badly burned!

Or fit HiD bulbs, that is the route that I went down along with a relay kit, I can finally drive at night now.

Or you could always fit alternative headlights... That's what I resorted to in the end!
