I have just secured a nice little project abroad. And will be working completely tax free for the next 2 years assuming I meet the criteria for the taxman.

As I got the go ahead today the first thing I looked at was what car to get. There are more mustangs for sale than ford mondeos and they are so cheap compared to the UK. I will be based in Abu Dhabi, but traveling between the gulf states. I could be in the UK for a month at a time so the car will need to be ok unused for upto 4 weeks.

Budget it no more than 140,000 AED (£24k) economy is not of concern as fuel is cheap.

So far I have looked at a dodge SRT truck, impreza, Mustang and a charger. I really want something that I can bring back to the uk after I finish the work hence why I am looking at the yank tanks.

Accommodation is sorted. Will be staying in a villa owned by the company.

If fuel is cheap then go with a 'gas guzzler'. It may be the last time you can afford to do so. SRT does sound like a good choice.

Fuel Price varies a little but it is 8AED gallon. so around £1.30 to £1.40 a gallon

I will also be bring the car back to the UK when i have finished out there. So buying something that you can only get LHD in the UK would be a better option. I have checked the current import restrictions, i will not have to pay any import duty as i can prove that i would have owned the car for over 6 months before returning to the UK.
