Finding out who owns a property

The house adjacent to my own use to have a tenant, 3 months ago they vacated and the house has stood empty. For a number of reasons I am trying to establish who owns this property (private landlord, council, agency etc) and how I contact them.

How does one go about establishing ownership of a property in the UK?

Land Registry is a good start.

Ask the opposite side neighbour (or up and down the street) bound to be some curtain twitching busy-body who'll know.
