Hi Chaps,

Should I go for OEM/Standard leads on the 2.8 or should I go for Magnecor 8mm ones..?

Also what should I be paying for either (and from where)..? Magenecor ones seem to be about £60 a set..?

Much obliged,
Matt.

If you go OEM, get the motorcraft ones from Ford...

General opinion is that magnecor are very good.. and you get the longevity out of them...

the word that generally comes up from those I know who have used magnecor leads is "rip off" and no report of better performance or durability

Mat, I have just bought a set of magnecor leads, I think the V6 ones are around £60 IIRC. Not sure if they are any better but they do last longer and a set of normal HT leads is around £40 anyway!

So was the problem the HT leads then???

Don't know yet.. I just thought if I replaced them anyway as a matter of course it would rule them out of the equation and save me messing about spark testing.. the ones on the car have got to be 2-3 yrs old anyway.

Just fitted a set of magnecore leads to mine and sprayed the rocker covers the same colour as the car. Leads are good, nice and blue, no arcing at night either!!

Check Pies' site, and the resetting tappets guide for a pic of the leads and rocker covers.
