My sisters boyfriend is in need of a smart time piece, he doesn't wear a watch for work (or at all at the moment) but has decided he needs to purchase something.

His budget is up to £150, so far he has seen this;

(http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SIMON-CARTER-MENS-WATCH-WT1500-BLACK-e594-/270773541266?pt=Men_s_Accessories_UK&hash=item3f0b5c5992

All suggestions gratefully received, the brief is something fairly elegant so no Casio G-Shock suggestions....

Thanks in advance for your tips

For £150, I'd be looking at a Seiko or a Citizen ... Perhaps something like this? http://www.ernestjones.co.uk/webstore/d/8246327/se...

The Ernest Jones website has a large range of both Seiko and Citizen, so it might be worth him looking to see what takes his fancy. The Simon Carter WT1500 just looks tacky imho!

Christopher Ward has a very good reputation on here and on other watch forums. What about a C5 quartz on a strap for £165? For reference, the automatic version is £265 smile

How about something like a Seiko SKX007J? For £150 you could possibly get one from Creation watches and pick up an oyster style bracelet on Ebay to go with it.

Not a bad shout, I think his taste will be something more classic though

No worries - in that case I really like the 2 Ikemi posted up previously.

Some good suggestions. Have a look at Citizen's eco-drive range. The dress watches can be quite classy and it's very, very modern solar power technology.

That screams £40 Chinese. Edit: Yep, I am very likely right. I see they use a combination of quartz chronograph movements and day/date sub-dial automatic movements used in £5 watches. Available in all good branches of M&S, it seems. hehe

Just bought a Mondaine, as above, off eBay, £129 delivered. They look great
