Recently changed from factory fitted 17s to OEM 16s with correct tyres etc. Haven't driven car in wet since but just driven out in steady rain and light flickerd on dash which i narrowed down to be the ASC warning light. Never happened before other than on snow/ice. Is it likely to be a sensor or crap tires? Flickered a couple of times then stopped for rest of journey...bizarre

Crap tyres will certainly influence it as will incorrect tyre dimensions -although that doesn't appear to be the case in this instance.

Sounds normal. The ASC system flashes up the warning lamp whenever it modulates the throttle due to detection of wheelspin. Easy to provoke this in the wet and the new tyres may still be bedding in.

If it were a duff sensor the system would become inoperative and the would be on permanently.
