Just an idea I have been thinking about, let's see if anyone would be up for it:

Time trial challenge to be run over 2-3 weeks
3 tracks, 3 cars, 3 drivetrain configurations
Each time to be added up to make a total time.

You have to use 3 different cars, one RWD, one FWD and one AWD. Which car/drivetrain/track combo is up to you.

Or is it just too complicated and more effort than it's worth?

I think if you could flesh it out abit then it could be a good idea, the only problem with time trails is getting enough people to take part.

I do not understand why so few take part. It's not like a champ where you have to be in a race at a time on a day, you do it whenever you like. You see a TT, pop the box on and throw a car around a track, post a time job done.

Thing with TT's is some people are alot faster than others and often shows. I know in past TT's i've been in they have classes which are dictated by your average scores.

This sounds really cool as it would even out the scores a bit between people who were perhaps better at one drivetrain than others

If I understand what you mean by "flesh it out", I didn't want to draw up a list of rules and tracks just yet, only to gauge folks' opinion on it.

Another possibility is to run 3 cars/drivetrain/classes on one track...

I know what you mean about time trials, and I wanted something different that wouldn't require people to be online yet another night every week. I'd have liked to run it as a time attack event, 30 minutes on each session per night, but I know not a lot of people can commit to that...

Right, I'm throwing it out there if anyone wants to have a "feel" of the concept, to see if this can work:

B class, Camino, Bugatti, Amalfi.

Or:

Silverstone National, D, B and S class.

I have chosen shortish tracks so people don't spend too much time on it, please post your times down to tenths of seconds (eg 1:12.5) for each track/car then total time.

I'll probably add some more rules when this runs, such as tuning limitations, but let's just see how this works first.

Yep, sounds good

Only thing I would ask is that the cars we use stay in their original class as I like to see everyones times on the leaderboard rather than having to keep jumping in and out to check how I'm getting on....

Not a massive problem but hey... if you don't ask you don't get

I'm not sure what you mean, can you not see cars that have been tuned to a different class on the LB?

1:07.4, FWD Astra VXR
1:49.7, RWD Evora
1:01.8, 4WD TT
Total 3:58.9

Or:
1:06.5, RWD Fiat 131
1:00.9, FWD Astra VXR
0:54.8, 4WD 300ZX
Total 3:02.2

It does seem a bit of a faff to be fair, now that I've tried I'm not sure it's worth it scratchchinconfused
