Last week I was stopped on the M4 in Wales. The officer pulled me doing 100.8mph, however, during our little chat he told me that he had been following me for 7 miles (OK I should have seen him...) and had clocked me doing 60 through the 50 zone, but felt I was going to go faster, 88mph on the 70 section later, but felt I was going to go faster, and he was right and pulled me when I topped 100.

I felt a little hard done at the time as it was 6.30am on a saturday morning and hardly a car in sight. However, I have just had a NIP through the post from a SCamera which apparentely got me 10 mins earlier on the same road doing 98mph....

Where do I stand as surely I have been done for the same offence twice? Obviously if the policeman had stopped me first I would not have been speeding when got to the camera.

Also I will obviously need to go to court for both, can I not have them both taken into account at one hearing?

Thanks...

Looks, to me like two seperate and distinct offences which would also appear to be bannable.

If Plod was following for you that distance did he not report for no mirror?

think you're wrong here DVD (he asys warily as that doesnt sem to happen often)

G1nger...without wanting to comment on your obvious observational abilities ...you should indeed get these treated as one offence as you had no warning of one to stop you doing the second (the spirit of 'getting done makes you more careful')...but...it wil probably come down to individual magistrates decision that day - pray to god it wasnt near Aldershot!

Sorry.
Agree with DVD.
2 seperate offences in 2 different enforcable limits?
I suggest a good chat with a lawyer

Oh well...outvoted 2-1....guess that'd be two offences then!

I can kinda see how you'd feel hard done by in this instance though..... I will be genuinely surprised if there wasn't a defence which made these offences treatable as a single one, all things considered.

Thanks for your comments. Looks like I am up a certain waterway without a certain implement!

I am aware that I should have seen him, I my defense I did see a car following me but quite a way off, the pvc rear window in my boxster doesn't give the best vision at distant (no defense I know!).

Looks like I need to get myself a decent lawyer.

No a little bit further on, just after Cardiff where the M4 goes from 3 to 2 lanes and then back to 3....

Although I think it is a bit of a hot spot all the way down there - dont think I'll be heading back to Wales for quite some time!
