Was walking the Dog last night and was nearly home, was coming down the road at the back of our house which is a narrow one way with a blind bend a little way up, I was going the same way as the one way and saw a small white car coming towards me, I waved for the driver to stop as I assumed that they hadn't seen the one way sign, the driver initially ignored me and I persisted as I could hear a car coming from round the bend, the woman shouts "Its alright, I live here", I replied with "Oh, and that makes it ok then ?" but was cut off by the car coming the other way slamming on and blasting its horn as she turned into her drive, the driver of the cat that had to stop shouted something at her, I carried on home. Ironically if she hadnt stopped to tell me its ok she would have been up her drive.

Am I being a bit of a "Road Captain" shouting at her as it is only say 75 yards but I have seen it before a couple of times (in 15 years) here and think its a really daft thing to do, kids do it on bikes but usually jib onto the pavement at the bend,it really annoyed me that she thought that it was ok as "she lives here", which suggests she does it regularly.

What laws is she breaking doing this, Due Care and Attention ?

I had this near my old workplace a few years ago. I was waiting to turn left off a small one way onto the main road and some woman turned into the one way street, mounting the pavement to do so started monging out by giving me the evils and waving her arms around because I was positioned in the "middle" of the road (one way, single lane) Anyway, as she passed me an Asda delivery lorry turned into the street behind me so I let her battle it out with him. I think she lost.

Either one of 2 things had happened:

1) She hadn't realised it was a one way so for a split second the look she gave me was in her mind, justified and she will have had a moment of embarrassment as the Asda lorry driver pointed out her errors.

2) She knew it was a 1 way and had the audacity to try and bully me and a lorry out of her way, just to take a short cut.

All I know is that her "angry face" was the ugliest face I saw in 2009, and I know some UGLY people!

'I Live Here!' is high up on the list of well used excuses given by people, specifically bhy women, for poor driving/parking etc. The other most popular one is 'ive got kids and im busy!' and 'if you dont have kids you dont understand!'

Deary me.

Maybe you should move out of the NE then? wink (Hope by NE you don't mean NE of Scotland frown )

Its irrelevent if she lived there or not, she's ignoring signs purely because she's too lazy to take an extra 3 mins in her journey. Its a 1 way for a reason, and that reason being that there is not enough room for two modern cars to pass at the same time. If she has such a problem with it she should move.

The fact that she lives there is all the worse, if it was someone who's just visiting the area I'd probably have more sympathy as they are probably unaware of the surrounding road structure and probably went down accidentally.
