I've tried quite a few over the years.

The Michelin Pilot Sports are great, but very expensive.
I didn't rate Continentals at all.
Falken FK452s were pretty good actually, and certainly better than their price implied. (I think they may have gone up in price since I used them though)

After trying all these, I stick to Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymmetrics now. I consider them to be very close to the Michelins in terms of performance, but at a much more reasonable price.

The trouble with tyres is that they are objective, and two people will have totally opposing views.

I have the Goodyears on the CSL & they are a great tyre, wet or dry.

On the cab, i've just put a set of contenentals on, & so far very good. Prior to that i had PS2's on for 4 years & they were excellent in all conditions.

Were you running the M3 specific Conti's or the 'stock' SC3's?

I have never tried Michelin's but I can't speak highly enough of the Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta's I have on mine. They give me so much more confidence compared with the Continental M3's the car came with.

However I would be looking at getting the same tyres all round

I've got the Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta's on mine and they are really very good indeed. Wet or try they do grip extremel well. Echo what's been said above that it's wise to keep same tyres all round if possible though.

I have Conti's sport 3's and seem good... but tramline a lot. The worst being if on a dual carrageway and you drive in the slightly worn part where the surface has dipped/left tracks from the traffic. Theres a short stretch near me and it really pulls the car to one side.
In my partners 'normal' car i dont even notice them.

I think I've read about Conti's doing this so can anyone confirm if other makes have the same prob?

I have a set of CSL alloys with cups and a set with Goodyear F1 assimetrics after both contis and PS2 and I dislike the goodyears alot. The new michelin Supersports will be replacing the Goodyear in the near future.

PS I find my brakes overmatch the Goodyears easily and wheelspins on gearchanges in the dry are common place; F1 = not good IMHO...
