Buying a car from Northern Ireland
Discussion
Have seen a car that I like the look of.
Trouble is it is in Northern Ireland.
Apart from the obvious hassle of collecting it and driving it back to Sussex, is anyone able to let me know what else is involved? I assume that it will need to be re-registered but is there anything I have overlooked? Also would there be any issues when I came to sell it?

Having done the reverse the only thing I needed to do was inform the DVLNI. At purchase the V5 was sent to the DVLA who noted the bike as exported to NI and sent the V5 on to me unaltered. I sent it and a letter to the DVLNI who sent me a new NI V5. This was not quite the proper proceedure but the bike owner insisted he had to send off the V5.

I often do the opposite and buy in london and drive back to northern ireland, alternatively you can pay a transport company £200ish to bring it to you. What and where is it? if it's near me I could take a quick look.
Thanks for the replies. This is the car I have been looking at:

It is in Warrenpoint. Not sure where you are based but thank you for your kind offer. I would not want to put you to any trouble at this stage. I am planning on a trip up to 911 Virgin next weekend as it is much more local to me. I was just curious as to what was involved in bringing a car over from Northern Ireland, it does look to be a very nice car though.
Its simple enough really, I had no trouble bringing my NI car over to England (and the reverse) its not a problem.
If you are coming up Belfast way can I get a run in it before you go to the ferry?
(may as well be a chancer!)
Just be warned most cars get a harder life over here, less big motorway runs and slightly worse roads, MOTs are better though and more consistant. Wont matter on this car.
