Took the Tam out the other night with the roof off (about 10:30) and decided some heat was required. Its the first time I've used the heater and nothing much seemed to happen. The fan works fine but adjusting the temp controller had no effect on the temp of the air coming out og the vents. On my previous Tuscan you could hear the flap opening and closing, but I dont get that sound from the Tam? Could that be the source of the problem?

What I am asking is: Do you normally hear the flap open or close when you adjust the temp?

Cheers

yes. Fan stops (the LED lights all go out bar the first) whilst the flap moves position then the fan starts again. There is a 'hum' whilst the flap moves.

As you move to HOT air should only blow out of the 2 screen vents, fully cold on the dash and floor vents. This should tell you if the flap is at fault.

You need eyes on it to see exactly what has gone wrong (its a sod to get to) it could be:

1) Motor is dead
2) Gears driving the motor broken
3) Connecting rod between the motor and flap has slipped

Replacement motors are about £100. You need to access the panel under the bonnet on the inner wing by removing the screws (4 IIRC) and the silicone. When you put it back together take your time and clean all the old silicone off and seal it back in well otherwise it leaks into the PS footwell (behind the carpet bit you can remove)

Just get a 4.5 upgrade you won't have an issue with heat then smile!!.

I had an opposite problem, I couldn't get cold air. I messed about with the flap zero settings to get the best balance I could, worth a play and see if it makes any difference.

Weird, mine seems to work ok, but I get hot from the screen and floor vents, and cold (air con) from the dash vents only.
