Advice/thoughts on problems with second hand car
Discussion
Situation is as follows.
Bought a car for c£10K, five years old from a dealer.
Dealer MOT'd the car but after picking it up I found out that the horn wasn't working.
Lots of too'ing and fro'ing to get it sorted and the dealer had to send the car to a franchised repairer to get the horn sorted. Cost a lot of money (modern cars - horn part of the ecu or something so this all had to be replaced).
In fairness to the dealer they sorted all this eventually and even though I had to make four or 30 mile round trips to sort.
I am happy with the car, transferred my personal plate and had a towing hook added.
Have now discovered an oil leak that will require two seals replacing on the gearbox.
Spoken to the dealer, and they want me to return the car and to give me my money back as they say they are now going to make a loss on the car (and presumably try and pass it off to another unsuspecting punter).
I am happy that they are not just completely washing their hands of the matter but I would prefer that they made the repair. I like the car, have put some effort into getting it right and at the moment there isn't another car of the same make, model, year, mileage around.
Any thoughts on where I stand?
