On behalf of a friend whose black E92 M3 was stolen from Addingham last month - please keep your eyes open and let me know if you see it or are offered it.

The car was stolen following a break-in, and so the thieves do have a key to the car.

The car was on a personal plate (J5 JHG), but police intelligence suggests that it has been re-plated to a YT09 plate. All standard spec (manual), but the car does have a slight yellow scrape on the nearside sill just in front of the rear wheel. There are a couple of other identifiable marks such as a mark on the rear bumper and kerbing on one wheel that will be recognisable to the owner (and myself).

It has been spotted in and around the Keighley/Bradford area and pinged a number of ANPR computers but the police chose to take no further action (a whole other story).

Edited to correct wrong version - it is an E92 as it is a coupe model.

My heart sinks every time I see an update to the Stolen Cars wiki.

I hope they catch the vermin, and I hope your mate gets his car back in good condition.

To make matters worse, there is an unresolved insurance dispute. Recovery is hugely important - and more likely to be personal than police, as they have had the opportunity, but are looking to catch the bds for other offences.

Ouch.

When I bought my Mazda 6MPS I got a free 7 day insurance policy. A few days before it expired, I rang my usual insurer to get my insurance transferred over to the 6. The free insurance expired at lunchtime on the Saturday, and my usual insurance kicked in at midnight the same day, so a potential 12 hours of having no insurance.

Yes, it got stolen within those 12 hours. Thank fk the Police found it relatively undamaged.

Sorry chap - should've googled BMW E92. Thought E92 refered to the current range of M3's and not the body style

Just that I saw a black E90 Saloon being pushed somewhat near to J39 of M1 earlier today, thought that may have been stolen

No dramas, hope it turns up

Yup.

Also pinged a number of ANPR cameras (20+) apparently and nothing done. Needless to say my friend's faith in the police is somewhat tarnished.

I can see why they didnt recover it, but if you are going to sit on a stolen car and wait to catch someone in it, you need to be certain of catching them!

st.

I can only imagine the sick to your stomach feeling that must have been.

Credit to you that if wasn't stolen 12 hours earlier, or 12 hours later!

Did your mate ever get the car back? Did the police ever catch the guys for the 'other offences'?

Sadly not on both counts.

frown Sorry to hear that. Stinks that they had the chance to recover/catch what is probably £40k worth of car, but decided not to.
