Advice please.........................again

Chaps,
This week I took off the boot latch (the part that screws to the boot lid) to clean it up and paint it. To cut a long story short the thread in the boot lid for the two bolts has stripped. I see there is some captive thread within the boot lid but how can I repair it? For now I have two rawl plugs in there with a couple of self tappers...................

Drill it out carefully and Helicoil it, would be the obvious answer.
