Work related drug screening,failed .

A former colleague was recently sent for a random drug screenig test(rail companies do about 10% random screening per year)and failed.No drug taking involved,scource was eventual traced to a type of bread containing buckwheat and poppyseed.So how much of the bread would you have to eat for it to show in a drug screening(urine sample)test.

Poppy seeds will do it every time. When doing my HGV training (all students are drug tested) 8 out of 14 students failed because someone brought in poppyseed bagels as a breakfast treat.

I don't know the exact quantities involved, but poppy seed bagels are usually heavily coated in them. Luckily common sense was employed and they realized the source and no action was taken.

What will happen with him?.

Saudi Arabia and the UAE will jail you if poppy seeds are found on your clothing ie dropped off a roll

He's back driving trains,the testing agency or someone within the train company messed up as he was not immediately removed from driving duties.8 days elapsed before his local management where aware of any problem by which time the poopy seed scource was known about.It seems that train companies have not made staff aware of this potential issue!

would show positive for heroin/diamorphine. i think it only stays in your system for 24/48 hours or so.
