Cams, not spam!
Yawn, the final, final cam question.
I should receive my block early next week from V8D. Time to decide on what cam to put in, (as if I haven't thought about it already!).
I had a Typhoon cam in my 4.6 that produced good bhp and was creamy smooth with no shunting.
Now I have a 5.0 with the pocketed pistons, I can fit a hairier cam.
I have the usual suspects;
Act induction
K & N
45mm short trumpets
Flowed inlet
Stage 4 heads
Lightened fly
72mm plenum
What I don't want to lose is a smooth bottom end. I don't mind sacrificing a little torque for a bigger hit at the top end.
I will still be running the Lucus steam box till probably the winter time so I need a cam that will run reasonably on that.
I do a lot of T/D's, so I would like as much power as is reasonably possible, again without losing the smoothness as it is still a road car.
I know most of you guys run standard cams but I am appealing to the experienced and possibly silent lurkers who may know the magic cam to fit.
Here's hoping

Just ask Dr Rob for a custom cam cut to do what you want on your engine. It's still going to be a lot closer to what you want than an off the shelf item even allowing for lack of development.
ETA: that actually is a recommendation for those that have problems distinguishing between advices & simply throwing names in hats

Whats that about BHP sells cars but torque win's races,,, Don't get too hung up on top end BHP... you have to get there first
Now that is so true.... peak bhp is great for willy waving down the pub... I'm expecting a meagre 360 there or there abouts...
but it's the torque and 'driveability' that provides the most fun

As the rover v8's make more torque clearly in your eyes it should fly past? but they don't.........
Yes im probably opening up a can of worms here

IMO its a light car it doesn't need 400ft/lb's of torque
