...anyone have any views on these?

i need a big-ass 21"+ inch mower and i can't decide whather to get something that is weakish for 300 or just spend a bit. i have founf these Asuka ones with the same honda engines as very dear honda mowers for 800 (well i found it on one site for 630 but the slightly less robust version).

i am really tempted but it's a lot of money for a ruddy lawn mower..even if i do have a '3hrs+ to mow it' garden...!

so any one know of this make?

i know that the same model is sold with a different name for more money...

but i must admit i am very tempted cos of the honda motor and general robust apearance!

I have the Honda 21" initially it did have a problem with the drive clutch, sorted by a Honda recall.

It has been rock solid ever since,9 years old,500+ sq metres of lawn to cut twice a week.

Never heard of Asuka before,my only concern may be,will the firm still be around when you need a new blade or other wearing parts,I'm pretty sure Honda will be.

it's a fair point on parts. my understanding is that asuka essentially make an older design of honda mower with a current (albeit trusty ohv) honda engine. so a nit like proton effectively remaking a last generation mitsubishi for instance.

my other thought is to see how long a £300 mcolloch type thing will last. if it lasted 3 years with a change of oil that's not dissimilar to 3 years of servicing on something better..
