How long have you had it?

Is it bad paintwork all over or a bad repair?

Yup, I was waiting on the morning of Sept 1st for my first Defender 110 double cab, and out it comes with a dent or two on it and some bad paint marks on it.

So I refused it, until a manager said, what do you want as compen, so I give him a list and I drove the car away on his word.

I got the car redone mint, and I got £3k worth of extras.

complained about it within 4 hours and rejected it and gave it them back within 24 hours,

the cars had a very bad roof paintjob with a lip all the way around the edge of the roof where the paint has been masked off, there is a aprioamate 18 inches of paint shringage on the roof.
the car also has overspray on the passenger side wing, windscreen, scuttle pannel, door, window trims, roof, wing mirror. overspray been silver. very bad touch up marks and drips in the laquer. also has a ripple in th door

So... whats your question then? I thought you were asking how to reject a car. It seems you have already done so?

Did you not spot the defects when you first looked at it?

I'm just going to say this.

Its a Defender!!!! If you use it properly then within a few years it will be dented all over. With loads of missing paint hehe

Perhaps he's asking on behalf of his dealer? "How to reject a car that someone rejected"

Was it bought through the Audi Approved Used car scheme?

All the checks and double-checks should give you real reassurance. And even further still, Audi operates a 30 day exchange policy - so in the unlikely event of an irreparable fault occurring within 30 days/1,000 miles (whichever occurs sooner) – we will offer you an exchange. This does not affect your statutory rights.

the paint is repairable though, even though it would never be how it should, so they might get funny on that one

It's worth noting that the majority of cars will have some paintwork rectification done between their initial production and them falling into the hands of their first owner.

What is acceptable and what is not - is a long, long argument.

End of the day, if the dealer says they don't think it's unacceptable you'll need an independent assessment of the quality of the paintwork and the nature of any rectification work done/quality thereof.

If the independent assessment says the work is substandard then you have your big stick to hit the dealer with.

If they don't - erm...

i did have the car looked at by an independant body shop, and they said the quailty of the work was absulotly unacceptable, and some of the laziest and 'bodge' of painting they have seen for a while

Ring Audi UK and ask them to intervene.

I had to with BMW, and hey presto Dealer Principal on the phone the following morning seeking a resolution.
