i have managed to get hold of a 1981 renault 5 4dr auto.
its a barn find and has been off the road since 1996. and has only covered 32k mile
1 owner from new and is all complete. inside is near mint. outside is in good shape for the year and the fact its been dry stored.
there is a few rust scabs on the body and the engine has seized. the worst part about the car as it sits is the sills have started to rot away.

any help with what this is worth would be great.
thank you

I don't think it will be worth restoring it if, as you say, the engine is siezed and the sills (possibly more underneath?) are rotten. Probably some value in the parts, an immaculate interior would be woth something. I'd be thinking about breaking it and selling the parts seperately. To be fair, it wouldn't be worth more than a few hundred pounds, even if roadworthy and MOT'd.
Sorry if that's not what you were hoping to hear.

After waiting three and a half years to make your first post I imagine that these responses are a bit disapointing. If only you had found something in the barn a bit more interesting than a Renault 5.

Being old does not a classic make.

Probably make a good donor car for someone with a rotton rusty one that still drives so £200 to £500 if you are lucky

Only a few hundred Mk 1s left these days, but not worth overly much. I didn't think they were crap though - fairly advanced design for its time, one of the first cars with plastic bumpers, and also designed with a rigid passenger cell IIRC

I have a 73 5 -the dashboard gearlever one - in 'reasonable' roadworthy condition. Taxed & MOT'd -£500.

So sadly -yours is a spares only car, and there arent many left out there that need them.

Good luck
