Is it possible for hot oil to spill onto carbonfiber and ruin it so much that it destroys the 'look' and therefore requires painting?

I have a piece that is thinly painted and want to strip the paint off to see the CF below, should it be sanded or would one use thinners?

Cheers,

Matthew

Do you know what resin it was moulded with?

If it's epoxy (which is pretty inert) I'd be inclined to risk pain stripper (carefully, and testsed somewhere you can't see it first.

If it's polyester resin, probably best to strip it using wet & dry.
