Just picked up one of these, what an epic machine it is, 4dr cruiser when needed and awesome fun when the mood takes.

Which forums (aside from this very helpful one) do people use for E39 M5's, somebody mentioned M5 board or similar?

Thanks chap, the touch of rain we had earlier made for an entertaining drive home (large roundabout on route) smile

Had mine about 6 months, and the more I drive it, the more i'm impressed with it.this is high praise, as my last car was a 360hp zmcoupe with over £20k of mods(mind you, the m5 is far from standard!)
Absolute bargain cars these e39 m5's!

That is high praise, they are epic machines. What have you done to yours?

19" BBS CH wheels, Bilstein PSS9 coilovers, Stoptech big brake kit, full Miltek exhaust and cats, twin Gruppe m air intakes(now removed), Evolve remap.
All the mods, bar the remap, were already on the car when I bought it. Not a bad buy for just over £6k!!

Evolve downpipes and cylinder head work next!!

BMW5.co.uk is worth joining too - friendly bunch of guys and I've always found their advice helpful.

What spec/colour is yours Rich?

It's true. Epic machine. I got my 99 m5 as a runaround for 8k a year ago. 1 owner car, spent nothing on it apart from oil and petrol as it didn't need anything doing. Sold for 7500 a year and 20k later as I was emigrating.

I'm almost ashamed to say it was nearly as much fun on the road as my noble was! Lovely jekyl and Hyde character.. Instant throttle response, great ride on Uk roads. Really playful at sane speeds if u wanted it to be. Safe and cosseting for pummelling France with wife and daughter on board.

Coming back in a year and would do it again! smile

Thanks they are fantastic motors and well deserving of the hype. You weren't wrong about their 'natural cruising speed' either! wink

They are great cars and will some mild tuning they can be made all perfect.

Have a chat with Evolve as I recommend the full exhaust with headers. Update the suspension with coil overs and a bbk it and you won't stop driving it.
See my profile for what I have done to my car.
