Best value for money is the 4-pots all round conversion utilising Brembo calipers from the 996, 996, Boxster S or Cayman S. You will need to change your front discs to E46 M3 CSL ones. Covered in great depth on the M3 Cutters forum.
My Z4MC was the first car in the country to do front and rears btw together. There are pics on the Z4forum...

dont suppose your zm was the dark one & red leather with csls on it ?
Nope, mine is imola red with gloss black standard wheels. I think the costs can be broken down into something like that:4 x Brembo calipers off a 996, 997, Boxster S or a Cayman S £500
2 x BMW E46 M3 CSL front discs £320
1 x Red Stuff brake pads front and rear £150
2 x front adaptor brackets with bolts
2 x rear adaptor brackets with bolts
The last two I have no idea what they cost from vendors...
Still miles cheaper than a full blown AP Racing front and rear kit. Running costs would also be lower as you would be retaining OEM discs all round. Massive improvement on the BMW brakes.
