This happened to us, guy rang up about my Panda, seemed quite keen to come and look at it and possibly buy it for his daughter who'd recently passed her test, so he agreed to come and have a look yesterday lunchtime, thought everything was fine. But he decided not to show, tried ringing him to see if he was still coming but he just hung straight up. Would anyone else be pissed off by this? I've had to stay in and wait for him to show up, and for whatever reason he's decided he isn't going to, so its wasted a day I could have been working and earning more money for the next toy. Is it too much to ask for even a curtosey call to say he won't be coming to view the car for whatever reason?

Bloody rude, but sadly that's some people... Yup, I'm with you, I'd be grumpy at the very least. Courtesy costs nothing.

agreed 100%

I've looked at a few cars the last couple of weeks...any that I've not been able to get across to look at I've ALWAYS rang the seller to let them know

anything less is just rude

I get them to ring as they are about to set off. Otherwise i assume they wont be there and go about my business as normal.

Some people just dont give a fk about others.

Glad to see everyone agrees so far. More angry that when we rang him to check if he was still coming he just hung up, even more rude

Yes totally agree it's very rude and well... just a bit odd really.

Why would you not just ring and say you're no longer interested, even if you've no real reason I'm sure you could offer a simple polite explanation?

Had this when selling a motorbike recently, and it actually concerned me that this random guy had my address where he knew the bike was stored.

I would never sell a motorbike from my home address end of:

Someone once did this to me with a car I was selling on eBay - messed my whole day up! So I added him as a favourite seller on eBay & after a couple of months he was selling a car himself. I won the auction & arranged for him to collect me from Manchester airport - would have loved to have seen his face when he realised I wasn't going to show up.

Try being self employed, one customer phoned me and pleaded with me to turn up at 12 prompt.
I turned up at 12 to the second, she was not in and I have phoned her twice and twice she never anwsered.
People are full off poo I kid you not.
I have a million storys about how full off poo people are, but I am just used to it.

When I start to sell my car next week, I will arrange somebody to come over while I am in the house chilling, I won't put myself out, what's the point.

Sold several before and had no problems, in fact everyone I've sold to have been nice people who I've had a bit crack with over a cup of tea whilst sorting out all the bits and pieces of the sale.

But for some reason the last bike I sold brought out all the time wasters and weirdos, don't know if it was because it was more of a beginners bike (Kawasaki ER-6N). It was so frustating though, bike was as new with 4k miles on the clock and I knew the first genuine buyer would snatch my hand off (which they did).

The evening of the no show I moved it to the garage of a trusted friend.

Though about leaving a photo of the bike and a note saying 'haha' in the empty garage too.

Had a couple o those myself. Very rude, would not do it to soemone myself, and have bought several cars.
If you have their number, put it on a perv site and waste a bit of their time fielding calls from 'interesting people'.

biggrin

Well played.

I can't understand why someone wouldn't bother showing up though, extremely inconsiderate.

Agree there are some tossers about but it's all part of the game.

I wonder if applying the techniques from this recent study to reduce NHS appointment no-shows would work: http://news.bbc.co.uk/today/hi/today/newsid_955100...

In a similar vein I had a total plonker when I sold my Disco earlier this year. However, this one did turn up at the alloted time. Spent about 1 1/2 hours showing him round and did a good long test drive.

He couldn't fault the car and said so but needed to just clear things with the wife and would be back on Monday to pick it up.

Never saw him again and he refused to respond to email or phone calls.

Perhaps alarm bells should have rung when he said he was the 2nd owner of the car around 5 years previously. I'm sure that all he actually wanted to do was drive it again. My only pleasure came from the fact that he had wasted 3 hours more than me as he had to drive an hour and a half each way to view.

Total to55er.
