I've just had my alcantara/suede material delivered for my upcoming attempt at replacing the tweed door panels and parcel shelf. I've ordered enough so that I could do the headlining too, if it all goes well.

Has anybody tried to replace the headlining yet? The doors seem easy enough, the rear parcel shelf seems fiddly but possible, however to roof might be a bit beyond me. Any tips greatly received. How does it come off, will I need to re-glue the upright leather or is it all bolted in some fashion?

The intention for this weekend is to do the following:
1) replace tweed on doors.
2) install door speakers.
3) replace tweed on parcel shelf.
4) remove centre speaker.
5) install touch screen TFT where centre speaker used to be.
6) install laptop in rear passenger footwell.
7) swear a lot
8) get pissed off with it all
9) give up halfway through.

This is all dependant on good weather... Wish me luck!

There was a few posts a while back about doing the headlining. Somebody on here has done. Have a search and I'm sure it will pop up.

Ah, help if I searched for roof lining. It appears to be possible if you're a dab hand with a stanley knife. I'll certainly give it a go, but when I have a bit more time than this weekend.

gbbird : email me your phone number, I can't promise anything as I'll have to do the work at the parents house, but I'll give you a shout if I make any headway and get the chance...

Well, one door down...

Took about 4 hours today to get one door fully kitted out and installed. No real dramas apart from the Infinity 6000cs speakers coming with the wrong instructions and no speaker wire or spade connectors, calling for a trip to Halfords.
I had to cut a hole in both the front inner door skin and rear inner door skin to get the speaker to fit, so the first time I wound the window down was a nervous moment

Tomorrow the next door and the parcel shelf, although I was looking at the centre arm rest and thinking I should cover that. Does that come out easy enough does anybody know?

The reason why I gave up early today? A hoon rounds some country lanes on a quad bike and a mini-moto with my bro-in-law

It'll be interesting to see what happens when it rains..

Sounds like you're making good progress, will you post a few pictures?

I also have the tweed door trim, and would like to replace it.

Where did you get the material from, and is it easy to work with?

I'm going to remove my stereo, so will need to re-trim to cover the holes up!

I've put a plastic covering over the rear of the speaker, so it should be ok.

Did the passenger door today, the rear parcel shelf and installed the laptop and tft screen in the centre console. Not entirely happy with the position of the tft at the moment, so I'll need to move that in future.

I'm holding off on the headlining until I see how well the door covers have stuck.

Next on list is fitting a sub in the cubby hole.

I'll try and take some pictures in the garage now and see what happens...

The material is Moroccon Cocoa Suede from John Lewis. It hasn't come out too well in the pics, but it is a chocolate brown colour that matches the carpets.
It's a real bitch to work with though as it doesn't have any give.

The laptop is currently running iTunes and Infomap Navigator (on screen in the pic). I'll put the diagnostic software on once I get another serial port added to the laptop and run a cable from the ECU.

Anybody have any recommendations for a speaker and amp to go in the cubby hole?

p.s For those people who wonder if they will be able to get into a cerb in a single garage, the 5th pic down is how much space you have

Ok, so it all worked for an afternoon

Driving to work this morning and the car went nuts, hazards, wipers, doors not opening etc... So I suspect the all encompassing 15A fuse in the boot has blown.

The fuse in the power supply for the screen is 13A, so how come the 15A fuse blew? or was it just coincidence?

Only just seen your post.

I am in the pocess of re-trimming the tweed part of the interior too. I see that you have got the doors and parcel shelf done ok so no need for my advice there! Did you stich round the contours of the rear shelf and the helmet holder?

The roof well it looks like a bit of a pain to me so I am going to leave mine. Don't let that put you off mind. Do bear in mind that the front part will be ok but the part round the rear window behind the transverse roll bar cannot (it appears) be done without taking the rear window out. The tweed is stuck round and the rear window put in after. Be careful with dark headlining too might make the interior feel cramped and dark.

Looks really good what you have done. Enjoy your car.

Cheers
Alex

The parcel shelf is stitched around the tray area (big thanks to my mother and her sewing machine )
The bottom of the cubby hole is stuck rather than stitched, but that will be replaced soon enough.

All in all, it took 11 hours in total with help from various members of the family who were there during the day. The most difficult part was the parcel shelf, the rest was time consuming but easy to do.

I'm undecided about the headlining as yet, I don't think it will be too dark as many cars have dark roofs, however the Cerb is lower than most...

Your not the only one. I found the parcel shelf very time consuming too.

I think you're probably talking about the tweeters from the component speakers?

Like the door speakers and tweeters.
