First a big thank you to the many contributors on here. I have been lurking for several months, reading as much information as I can.
I managed to resist the urge to buy the first one I looked at, and tried quite a few before deciding on this 500 which I picked up yesterday. I must complement Tony Gilbert for being very easy to deal with and making the buying process a pleasant one.
It has had a chassis restoration and full engine rebuild in the last two years, it must also have a had a respray not too many miles ago as there are no stone chips. The interior could do with some work, the carpets are a little frayed in places and the trim just under the windscreen is pulling away and looks like it has been glued back more than once.
The 120 mile drive home gave me a chance to get used to the car and also prove that when the roof is down, driving faster in heavy rain doesn't work - you still get soaked! Then I must have looked a right muppet struggling to get the roof out of the boot at Newport Pagnell Services and getting considerably wetter before I managed it. It was still fun though.
I started to miss some of the toys on my previous 335i, but a new Garmin has solved that. The CD changer doesn't work, but I didn't feel the need to find out until the car was on the drive this afternoon, and can't say I'm that bothered.

I'm sure I'll have some questions now, as the alarm is playing up (it's a Toad one which I presume is aftermarket?) Tyre sizes (the rears are 245/45/16 which I don't think is right) and how to replace the heater blower motor as it only works on the first 2 speeds, but that's not that urgent.

I'm already familiar with the little foibles of a Tiv as apart from the alarm/immobiliser problems the passenger seatbelt wouldn't unwind and the door button stuck down. But I'm still loving it! Nearly emptied the first tankful despite not having anywhere to go.

This is a great forum and thanks again for the help so far.

Apologies if the picture link hasn't worked on my first attempt.

Congratulations! I love that colour!

Just one thought from me: if the blower is working on the first two settings, then Shirley it can't be the blower itself that's at fault? I'd be blaming the switch myself.

Thanks, seems to be a bit of a "marmite" colour from the comments I've had.

Yes, me not thinking, makes sense it's the switch.

Thanks! do you know the name of your colour? Mine was advertised as Roman Gold, the handbook says Gold Pearl.

Id imagine that its the heater resistor thats at fault,as for colour, similar to a 450 i had last year, ive now got a Camel Yellow one and everyone agrees that if you have a TVR have a colour that gets it noticed!

I cant remember what the colour was called though,
