How much should I get for my ER 5?
Discussion
Hi all,
Would just like the view of you guys an gals on how much I should get for my ER-5. This was my first bike which I bought from brand new so havn't got any experience with 2nd hand values.
I put it on ebay with a reserve of £1450 but it only reached £1120, I've put it back on again now. Is £1450 realistic (I've seen them advertised for anything between £1300 - £1800)
Here's the ebay link;

Your help would be much appreciated.
Regards,
John

Think the miles may be putting some people off, lots of bikes that age will have only racked up a couple of k pa.
Certainly seems in nice condition but if I was buying something with 20k or more on it Id be budgeting for a new rear shock (or pair of in this case) anyway, although actually pairs dont perhaps take the pounding of a monoshock so prob not as bad.
It does seem a heck of a bargain at the £1100 level considering its age, but a quick scan around does show lots of ER5s advertised at the same age with less miles for £1500 area- (and thats without the haggle factor- they may got for a couple of hundred less) even spotted at a dealer (thus with warranty etc) an 01 with half the miles in a more IMHO desireable colour for £1600, or private sales with same miles but couple of yrs older are up for £750 or so, so I feel as a private sale you are always going to struggle to get the sort of ££ you are after im afraid.

Thanks iguana.
I get what you are saying and thats half the trouble when trying to pitch it at the right price as there a loads of ER5's out there and the prices vary so much between them. Have seen newer, less mileage ones go for what appears to be peanuts but then I've seen older ones with a similar mileage going for more than newer ones.
doesn't make sense to me half the time.
£1100 does seem too cheap to me, Maybe £1300 is more realistic??
Cheers, John
