Both appear to be nice cars & at fair prices but which one would you advise on ?
OK the 1st link , I like the fact that it has been the same owner for the past 8 years & its had a engine rebuild approx 7,000 mile's back. Not sure about the air filters though , my thought are they are more likely to suck in hot air , can't see why this would be done ...unless its supposed to be a "Ram air" effect with the bonnet cutouts ? Still not the endof the world as it has the original bonnet. The colour well probably not the most popular but I do like it.

This car ,well its had it all done except the engine rebuild as the previous one & it does have highish mile's. The amount of work gone into this car seem's amazing ,the clutch renewal is a big + too me. The colour is (to me) boring on a TVR to sober it needs to be "mad" . It seems the owner has not owned it very long & most of the work (if not all) was done by previous owners, selling due to partner not comfortable driving it, fair enough.
Its a nice dilemma to be in but its still a dilemma , the Purplish(?) one is nearest to me & I am going to see it mid week ,then I may make the long jouney to Suffolk, any input here would begreatly appreciated as I am a bit starry eyed at the moment if you know what I mean,they both seem good.

Personally I would only consider the blue one for aesthetic reasons. I wouldn't worry too much about the mileage as it's clearly a good one to have got that far and still be fit. I rebuilt mine at about 57k, it had previously been done by a "specialist" about 7k earlier due to a snapped crank but I had to do it properly due to their terrible workmanship. The reassuring thiing was that the original cams, followers, liners etc were all in really good condition at that mileage. However, you do need to consider how easy it'll be to sell a Cerb with approaching 100k when you want to move on...
Go and have a look, good luck!

Hmmm, difficult choice.
I am pretty sure that the purple one is a "GT" engined Cerb 4.5, however if it has had a rebuild then would be interested to know what was done spec wise and whether it was an actual GT. Fresher engine, lower miles etc is a plus. As mentioned the bonnet is cosmetic so can be replaced back to standard, cone filters do not add to BHP but only noise, maybe the reason for the holes in the bonnet is to support the cone filters, but it's a lot of effort for no real gains. Again it is very easy to revert this back to standard. I am not sold on the quad exhaust and as the rear has been modified to accommodate this then might be pricy to put back to std, however if you like it then it's all good. I also think this one may have uprated brakes, but you would need to check with the owner. I last saw this car around 5/6 years ago and still have some pics somewhere. Def worth a look and see if there is even more evidence of what has been done that has not been mentioned in the advert.
The blue car has higher mileage and whilst this shouldn't put you off provided it's been well cared for, it is still 70k+, the bonus with this one is that it has had quite a bit of work done already inc clutch / susp etc. Given that it looks in nice condition also and the price then it's easy to see why this one is also tempting.
View both, post on here for thoughts and advice and I am sure you'll get some good support / answers.

The purple one isnt to my tastes. It was for sale a few years ago. It would take a few quid to undo the mods. I wonder if it's been serviced eveywhere year what with such low miles?
The blue one has had a few quid spent on it. Not studied the ad but the hot oil pressure seems too high to me, what's the chassis like, water pipes etc..?
Harworkpays is selling a decent 4.2 for reasonable money.

Purple one comes with a standard bonnet. I would go purple as it looks to have had some considerable expense on it and the rebuild. The quad exhaust is odd but again it seems to come with original so aesthetics can be standardised. I would go for substance over style and you are correct. Blue is dull
First of thanks for the input lads!
Ok as I said the colour is fine with me, i am not buying it to think about resale etc.
I too am not keen (at all) on the bonnet but as it comes with the standard bonnet I cannot see this as a problem either,the rear pipes maybe a bit OT ...but I like it .(loud & proud etc Lol
)
Cyclone1 do you recall when this was taken ?
Sorry to appear ignorant but what is a "GT" car ?
Also the induction boxes with TVR is that standard , they seem to be alloy which would not be great as it retains heat.
Gazzab: Do you remember where you saw it for sale a few years back ?
I believe the car was purchased at Penisula but has been serviced at Dulfords where all engine ,suspension work was completed. I this good or bad , sorry but ,as you can tell i am a TVR wannabe novice ,hence this thread.

What you need to do is buy off a known PHer and then all will be well......

Personally I'd have this one - no question.
A known car and one which has had plenty spent recently, low mileage too

The pics were taken some time in 2006, I think the purple one was in for some remapping / induction pipe work. I posted a thread back then with the same pics on but can't find it. It doesn't mention that the car is remapped but as it is running the Whirlwind induction pipes and having had a rebuild then it's worth checking.Ok as I said the colour is fine with me, i am not buying it to think about resale etc.

A GT engined Cerb is a bit of a rarity or fable depending on who you talk to. This car was believed to be fitted with a GT engine and I think this was verified. However, as it's had a rebuild then maybe it's been built to STD spec now, you would have to ask the owner. The GT had different internals, stronger apparently and with slightly different dimensions. I am a bit out of touch with Cerbs nowadays so can't remember the exact differences.
The induction boxes look fine to me and I would guess they are just coloured to look metallic? If not then yes you are right about heat retention etc, however this is not a major negative as in summer regardless of materials used it's always going to be very hot under the bonnet.
Best of luck with the search,
Jules.

That purple GT was my car back in 2006 so not sure where the 8yrs come in, however, the pictures taken by Cyclone1 were outside Joo's place after having the whirlwind induction done, it was my intention before the taxman intervened to have it put back to standard the way it left the factory,
original lights, racelines etc,but sadly i had to sell it, when i look at it now it makes me sad, but god do i miss that car.

Hi John,
I can imagine you miss that car.
Just found this link;
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
Within that thread is another with the pics of the car I took. For me this would definitely make me take the purple GT over the blue one. This is a genuine GT, in fact the first GT. The thread bought it all back, different suspension, chassis, panels, manifolds, exhaust and engine internals. One of only 10 just adds to this being a special Cerb. Whilst I am not a fan of the bonnet, cone filters and rear valance / exhaust these can really easily be changed back to how it was. £12k for a piece of Cerb history is a bargain.....
