Just got my car back from a accident repair center. It was in for some vandalism work.
Prob 1,courtesy car was a Hyundai 1IQ or whatever this thing was. Worse car i have ever had to drive.
Prob 2,car was not picked up. had to drive 25 miles to drop it off.
Prob 3, when i got my car back they had sprayed over 2 bits of corrosion i did not know was there. So now it sticks out like a sore thumb. Never even called to ask if i wanted to pay extra on top of my excess to put them right. For god sake they were painting the panel. Surely they could have asked me if i wanted to take them out.
Prob 4,when i got courtesy car was not clean. Dirty foot wells, outside was dirty. But when i handed it back, they wanted me to pay for a £50 valet charge. Not to mention they sent me away with a courtesy car with the fuel light on. Unprofessional and not what i would expect from a repair company. Or I'm i just being picky ?

Name and shame rules.

To be honest, it sounds like you're pissed off because they gave you a Hyundai courtasy car and did some extra work for you. 1/10

You're being picky, IMHO.
Prob 1 - Most insurance policies only give a small car these days as a courtesy car.
Prob 2 - If the car is drivable (and legal to do so) they'll get you to drop it off. If it's not, they'll come pick it up.
Prob 4 - Was the courtesy clean when you got it? If so, then I'd say it's reasonable for them to expect it back clean.
Prob 3 - Actually sounds fair enough on the face of it.

The car was a problem. Never been given such a s?!t car before. Always had corsa SXi,or focus. This thing was worse that sh!t. If there was a dink in any body panels that were getting painted anyway. They were done. Used 3 accident centers in my time. This is by far the worst !

It was a courtesy car, what were you expecting? It's purpose is to get you from A to B whilst they fix yours, ergo it did the job.

if it was filthy and had no fuel, why did you not say so at the time? Last time I had a courtesy car, I had to do a walk round inspection and agree the condition before I took it, pointed out dents and scratches etc, which he agreed.

Sounds like their offended your ego by not offering you a performance car, whilst yours was in the garage.

cheap economic courtesy cars are what garages use. they make more sense than a big V8 barge that people will then complain about due to being too big and using too much fuel.
and i imagine it goes out with an empty tank it will come back with one, they dont have to mess about making sure people return it with the same amount of fuel.
with regards to the repairs, if its an insurance job and youre not happy with the job youre well within your rights to return it, if they wont rectify their bad job youre again within your rights to take it to a repairer of your own choice and have the insurer foot the bill

I'm fairly sure that the repair places or at the least the one which are on the big insurers approved lists are required to provide a courtesy car but not allowed to charge the insurance company for it, hence they supply the cheapest cars available.

1. It's a courtesy car, not a priviledge or an entitlement - the bodyshop I choose to use have a 10 year old 1.2 Astra as theirs. Be grateful you got one at all.

2. Why should they collect your car if it's driveable? That means they have to pay for someone's time unnecessarily. When you picked up the courtesy car, you should have been offered a walk round inspection. If it was too dirty to inspect, that should have been recorded by you on their form.

3. If they've done a bad job, you're fully entitled to reject it - have you already signed to say you're happy with it though?

4. That's out of order. See 2.

what are you guys on about in the "you're being picky" camp.

Spraying over corrosion is a no no and a bodge punch

This wasn't a "nationwide" chain of accident repair centres was it? scratchchin

I had my car in there about a year ago for £7k of repairs. It came out with the mirror cover scratched down to the black plastic underneath, there were sticky glue stains on the rear seats and carpets, some sort of black stains on the roof lining inside, plastic clips missing from under the rear seat and poorly fitted seat cover.

For £7k and 6 weeks of work, I was expecting it to come out immaculate...

My brother also used the same place, and they fitted his replacement bumper with half the clips missing rolleyes

What is it with these accident repair centres? Why can't they treat customers vehicles with respect and do a proper professional job?

Quite simply they do not have sufficiently trained staff. A bodyshop apprenticeship used to be 4 years now they think after 4 months they know everything.

I wonder why mr Garlick is so hypocritical with regards to the N&S rules. Ie it's not ok to quote businesses name but it's ok to put pictures of other peoples cars in "The BAD PARKING thread" and "Spotted! Real Rubbish Chav Number Plates" and let people take the mickey??

Making jest of peoples parking abilities, styling modifications or vanity plates doesn't affect peoples means of making a living.

Naming and shaming a company on a public forum where they may never read what has been said, and thus have no means of defending themselves, and where there is no evidence that the claims are valid can potentially be very detrimental to a companies image and might cost someone their living.

Are you sure? On what basis can you make such a strong one sided statement.

If I say your car looks st, does that stop you from earning a living tomorrow? No.

If I say your company offers st service and they're to be avoided at all costs, might that affect your business? Yes.

Not to mention that one is unsubstantiated, wheras there is photographic evidence of the other.

Don't mind what courtesy car I get, just get it done right, first time Please. Not 3 attempts which include painting the exhaust yellow, putting the lights in upside down, leaving the exhaust rubbing on bodywork and not fixing the cracked paintwork, twice, which was the reason it was bloody there.
Insurers recommended repairer? Won't be making that mistake again.

Because there are always two sides to every story, and from experience N&S can be detrimental to a company or business hence the N&S ruling is strictly enforced.

My example is based on threads which discuss real life offences, which can quite easily be picked up on and end up in tears (points etc). Can't see why that is allowed and "your company offers st service" (which you can easily defend if you run the business in question) isn't. Ever wondered why sites like reviewcentre or reevoo are so successful?
