Big engined bangernomics - wrecked by insurance cost?

So, I've been looking to add a barge to the fleet since everytihng I have only has two seats and I feel the need for leather, effortless wafting and room for 4 adults in comfort and old skool luxury...

Naturally my eye turned to an LS400, a 540i, or perhaps a merc... however, the dream has been shattered by the reality of insuring one of these in london.

bearing in mind it is an additional car, and therefore I cannot apply a NCD, and I live in central london... £3k quotes for the Lexus means it's not going to work out...

so, are there any grand old barges that are *insurance* bargains?

I used to have an old merc 300se - deffo luxury wafting and that was fine for classic car insurance, so fully comp (no ncd can be used on a classic policy as long as it is second car) cost me £125

maybe try an old Lexus (circa 89-92) with someone like lancaster insurance?

You can "apply" an NCD. Call a good broker (call, not via a web quote) and ask for a mirror or shadow policy quote. Needs to be a broker... Try Adrian Flux and shop around.
