Hard shoulder queue jumpers....
Discussion
Dear Transport Minister,
Please consider the installation of remote controlled sniper rifles on motorway junction gantries to pick off the self centred, rule breaking
s that decide they have the right to the use of the hard shoulder if there is a queue or incident, and the moronic sheep that all follow them. This may also be useful for ending police chases early and as an anti-terrorism measure as a bonus.

If you caught the regs of some of these people on a cameraphone and forwarded to local constabulary what are the chances of any action? Bearing in mind two police vehicles had used the hard shoulder to respond to whatever the incident was and that said queue jumpers had blocked it when cones in the road forced them to merge back to the carriageway.

The problem you will have then is the traffic wombles will come along and close the entire motorway for six months whilst they clear the incident. Please consider the installation of remote controlled sniper rifles on motorway junction gantries to pick off the self centred, rule breaking

i blocked someone ambling up the hard shoulder once, i thought the rest of my motorway brothers would applaude my hero tatics. instead i assume they thought i planned to jump the que as well and promtly hurled abuse/horns at me and blocked me from joing the que again(exatcly where i had left it id like to add). even the bloke id blocked on the hard shoulder gave me abuse!

I've never ever seen this happen, and do 12,000 miles a year along the M8.
I am from Glasgow, but I've lived in Hampshire for about 10 years now. It's an English thing. That said, there are bits of the M8/A8 (thinking coatbridge here) where you can't do this because there isn't a hard shoulder anyway.

This was on the Medway Bridge on the M2 London-bound. I only need to use it for a couple of junctions to and from work and I've never seen a queue on that stretch before. I pulled onto the left-hand slip-lane to come off the motorway, about 3 t
ts in rep-mobiles zipped down the hard shoulder to jump to the next junction after which at least 20 cars decided to follow suit, only to have to merge back in when roadworks cones obstructed the HS. Even mrs middle class in some mini-mpv behind me decided to join in. It may seem petty to get worked up about it, but it just summarises everything wrong about joe publics driving attitudes. Suffice to say I let no-one merge back in, and was pleased to see someone behind me partially straddle the HS when some blonde b
h tried to continue to overtake after the obstruction despite being about 100m from the exit roundabout. This is the problem with driving, such things go unpunished convincing people they can repeat at all opportunities.
Do you think the BiB would have taken any action had they been coming up the HS to attend the incident? Would this be points and a fine?

Happens every day in Italy, if the traffic is backed up near the junction you want to leave at and the hard shoulder's clear, what's the problem?
Erm, because the queueing is to come off at the said junction and the hard shoulder is for EMERGENCY use at all times maybe.pixelpimp said:
