All mixed up

Advice needed here from anyone who knows more than me about the oily bits - so that must be most of you on here!

Currently using Castrol 10w60 in my 4l Tuscan S, because that's what PPC in Melton Mowbray use and Paul Glynn says is OK. Now I need something to top up with and my choice at Halfords is Mobil 1 10w60 or the same Castrol product at 5w40. Question is, which option would best mix with the existing oil? Does it really matter?

10-60w seems a bit thick to me but thats not what your asking. If it were me 'topping up', I would only use oil of the same grade.

5w-40 is going to be thinner when cold and hot compared to what you have in there now.
