Canon Digital Cameras

Yup that worked for me with my EOS 10D - although (for techie reasons I can't comprehend this early on a Sat) the length of the lens will now be about 1.6 times longer on digital...
Will dig out more details for you when I've woken up...
Have a look here for loads more info though :-

All Canon AF/EF lenses work with there digital SLRs. In most cases there is a focal length multiplier of 1.6 due to the fact that the imaging chip is smaller than 35mm which the lens was originally designed for. The end result is that the lens only covers a smaller area; which when you increase it to be the same ratio as 35mm it turn out to be a difference of 1.6x
It is a bit like paper sizes. If you have an A3 sheet of paper it is bigger than A4, in out case 35mm film is the equivelent of A3 and the digital camera is the same as A4. However in most cases we always want to produce both images to be the same size so to make the A4 become A3 when it comes to printing the image.

Oh and just had a look at www.7dayshop.com prices and they (as usual) are looking very good.
Now why did you make me want to order the EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 IMAGE STABILISER USM which is £140 cheaper there than Jessops????

You can also think of it as a projected image. A lens designed for a 35mm camera projects an image that size onto the film plane. If you then remove the 35mm film and replace it with a CCD (which is usually smaller) the image will spill off the edge. Hence only the middle part of the image is recorded. The effect is the same as cropping an image, which bizarrely emerges as magnification. The difference in size between the film and the CCD determines this effect: by all accounts Canon is 1.6 and Nikon is 1.5.
This means that telephoto is easy but wide-angle is harder: eg a 28mm lens on a 35mm camera is suddenly about 43mm on a DSLR, boo.
You can buy a DSLR with a chip that's 35mm but it's megabucks.
yup, 7day have just started to sell canon lenses at a fantastic price.
I paid 399 for that lens less than a year ago!!!!
Great lens, gets a little soft over 200mm, but the ability to shoot hand held at 300 (un adjusted) is a great help.
tvr forever....are you a member on the digi darkroom?
if so, whats your user name.....i'll look out for you
