Radar detectors

Need to get a speed camera detector thingy. what im not sure of is do I need radar detection? I like the look of the Snooper Neo 4 which has gps and laser as standard with the option of a radar detector. The trouble I can see is that the radar part seems to need to be mounted on the front of the car which will be a problem on a Tuscan S as I cant lift the bonnet to fit it. We have very few fixed cameras where I live but have loads of bloody mobile unit which are far worse, will the unit pick thease up without the radar attachment?

Vans use mostly laser but some, like fixed camers, use radar. Forget laser detection, by the time it's detected it... you've been caught. Laser jammers work (if fitted correctly) but it's a grey area as far as the law is concerned.
Radar is detectable but there isn't a detector out there that's 100% reliable: it'll either give you false readings or miss the radar the one time you need it.
I think the 4 best things are:
1. Laser jammer
2. One of those units that tells you where all the fixed cameras (can't remember the names sorry)
3. Your eyes!!!
and finally a load of luck!
Personally I don't use the first two, trust a lot to the third and fourth... and amazingly keep finding a crisp packet stuck to my front number plate!

I got the S4 neo last week. Nice bit of kit. As said above it wont detect the mobile vans but you just have to use a bit of luck and observation for those!
It just takes the hastle out of searching the roadside and behind signposts for those dreaded yellow boxes, worth the money in my opinion.

It seems to be different systems are prevalent in different areas, ive had a Bel euro 550 radar detector since it came out in early 2001 and for me its brilliant ,on Teesside they use mobile radar cameras and the bel tells you they are there long before you can see it and counts down as you get closer its just the same with fixed Gatsos but lasers are different if they fire a laser at a car in your area the bel usualy picks up a splinter off that laser and gives you a warning but if they just fire it at you the bel tells you but it is to late by then, but they dont use lasers on Teesside so the bel is more than good enough hope this is of some help Steve.
