Hi all
i was wondering is your Tvr quicker than your other car. i mean if you take the same route in different cars, are you quicker in your tvr? i have a chim 500 and a 350Z and i thought i would have an experiment. i went exactly the same route home both nights, a little after the rush hour so i didnt get held up.
well i was a bit surprised as i was about 5 mins quicker in the 350Z. the route took me about an hour with no noticeable hold ups either trip.
The route was pretty bumpy and windy ( bendy not blowy). i think the time was made up by how more confident i was going to stay on the road in the 350Z than in the Tvr.
mind you i had a great time in both cars they are both very fast but i think from A to B the 350Z would mostly win . but i would still sell the 350Z first!

Lester, both my MG's are faster than my Chim. Even the '72 1800 tax exempt 90bhp (when new) 0-60 in twelve seconds Roadster. Bless it.

Cheers, R.

My Chimaera 400 is doing well in 2011 TVR Speed Champs.

At Castle Coombe last month took the plunge and tried my Audi TT 3.2 in the Bristol MC Sprint on 25th Jun and was 4-secs slower on the one lap sprint than the Chimaera the previous year. TT was on road tyres and the Chim has 888s, so not exactely apples & apples!!!!!

I would say that the Chim is quicker to 60 than the Jag, but after that the Jag leaves it behind. To be honest I'm not sure which would be faster around the twisties.

My other car blows the Chimaera in to the weeds, poor old Chimaera just can't cut it, so we just use it for pootling about now.
Although the Chimaera does knock the sock off the company car biggrin

Blimey, I'm looking at getting Chimaera as it's likely to be the fastest car I can realistically afford to buy and run (as a weekend toy at that). frown Maybe I'd better stick to my A4 diesel then. wink

Let me introduce you to it.

Providing you have a knackered old Tiv only firing on half its cylinders, of course! biggrin

Definition of fast is what is required here. We'd all be nuts to drive them 'fast' all the time, but they feel fast most of the time. It's a great event being out in the TVR, and the sensation of speed and the 'moment' of being behind the wheel probably (for me) outweighs the fact that other more normal cars are as quick.

I'd rather be in a slow TVR than a fast eurobox.

Went on one of those PH early Sunday Hoons earlier this year. Took the skidder as the tiv was awaiting a wheel.

Jesus, I nearly died, 130 craptons down undulating country lanes in my tiv would have been absolutely fine but the skidder was frighteningly floaty and remote to say the least! Surprisingly 100K engine pulled strongly all the way.

My comment refers to an encounter I had with a Chim earlier this year in my Skoda. I easily kept up with it from the A3 junction at Petersfield all the way down to Meon, where we both pulled in for fuel. I could have overtaken at a couple of points, but held back as I didn't want the "spirited" drive to turn into a race.

Spoke to the owner at the garage, he came up to me actually - asking if it was an ex-Police car. When I replied in the negative he asked what I'd had done to it, which isn't a lot tbh. Just an air filter, dump valve and remap - making just over 220bhp. He commented that his Tiv "must be firing on four cylinders" and resolved to get it serviced straight away biggrin

As for which car is girlier - an Elise or a Tiv. Let's just think. Which one has nice, comfy seats, an easily foldable roof, electric windows, luggage space for all your shopping... wink

Hi all I've found that I can drive my 350z quicker than my Chim on the Queens Highway
Cocooned in your 350z with it's computer calculated crumple zones ABS, ESP and bouncy castle of airbags, you know that any serious error of judgement will result in nothing more than a slightly bruised ego and a loss of no claims bonus. You therefore make progress, and feel good about yourself, even bragging on internet forums about your perceived prowess.

However, in the Chimaera, without any of these driver aids, you assume that any performance less than that of a driving god, will obviously result in your certain death and so drive like the limp wristed girly wuss you so obviously are, and complain on internet forums that your everyday car is much quicker point to point.

Sparky?
what a stupid reply, for a start i had the traction control off!! i never once said i was going above the speed limit, which i wasnt.i dont recall any bragging in my post. i have protected no claims bonus and the only accident i have had in the last 20 years is when a 75 year old lady drove into the side of my current chim.
if you had bothered to read the other topics i have started you would notice i do not think i am a driving god which is why i have booked an advance driving course so i can learn to drive my chim better and enjoy it even more.
you will also notice that i said i would sell the 350Z first as i love my TVR but both cars are great fun and put a smile on my face. i was just pointing out that in my ususal driving style A to B was faster in my 350Z.
as for being a girlie wuss i reckon 10 mins in my company and you might change your mind!
let others make up their minds, considering your topics started , are how to clean a wheel barrow ????? seasickness and the bus timetable in Majorca ??? real non wussy stuff i am sure
