All,

As you may know my Cerbera went back due to the finger follower problem for the third time.........

Well they have turned it around in 3 weeks, yipee hopefully get my car back for the weekend.

Here is the interesting thing, having spoken to Paul in Servicing just now, they have not had one come back (Touch Wood) and when we discussed running in he said, the thing to remember is to Not keep it at the same revs but vary them, but use the rev range upto 3000 for the 1st 250 miles and then upto 5000 revs after that upto 1500 miles approx.

I think this is beacuse the engine itself is run in and only the finger followers have been replaced, but it slightly different to what everyone, including the manual states.

Thoughts please!

Martin, the Tamora manual states that for the first 300 miles you should avoid travelling at a constant speed.
Sounds similar to the advice you've been given.
Cheers....... Andrew

What is the sequence after 1500 miles? Opening loud?
(or going back to the dealer to get the followers re-re-re-re-redone? Sorry bad humour )
No, seriously?

Thom,

Don't joke that's exactly what happened last time!!!!!

How are you getting on with your job placement there?

Well, I am quite glad such a Cerbera-knowledgeable character like you has followed my "adventures"
Unfortunately I haven't received anything, not even the slightest e-mail of refusal...

About your followers, FWIW I would run them in as if the engine was new; IMVHO that's the most sensible thing to do.

Martin,

I must say, you're taking all this very well ! Why did they get it wrong the first two times though?

When you say, "they've not had one back so far" what do you mean?

Anyway, very glad you're back on the road, I've got my fingers crossed for you that it will never happen again !

Just clocked up the 2000 miles since my rebuild and thankfully things seem to be OK...full revs are back along with my grin.

Have fun !

By the way Martin, having religiously read your very educational technical posts (you seem to have had all the imaginable troubles on your Cerberas), I think some day or other you should throw everything down on paper and write some "Steve Heath" equivalent book for the Cerbie
(Anyway be sure I will be the first to order one )

Thom,

Many thanks for the kind words, I think it may be a good idea the book. Well I hope you here from them soon and get a posting.

Bandit, many thanks, the reason I take it so well is I LOVE the car!!!!! Paul says all the ones that had the problem before have had new followers an to date not one of the engines with the new followers has had any problems (Big Touch Wood) As for what did I do wrong before, I am not sure I followed everything in the manual etc.. and it still went wrong, this time I am going to treat it with 'kid gloves' until it has reached the holy day of 2000 miles........
