Gatwick South Terminal - quick drop off zone question

Picking up someone from South terminal in a couple of days, not planning on messing about with parking etc, just planning on picking up in the drop off zone, but need to tell them where I'll be. Went to North terminal a while ago and its all changed - drop off is now at ground level.
So question is whats the deal at South, used to be on the upper level, has that changed?

I read a report that Gatwick flyer numbers were down, but would have thought that someone on here has been recently? No one?

For dropping off and picking up I always just follow the signs for the off site bus parking, I think it's lower level. There is a long lay by on the right that you can pull in to and the person you are meeting can wander out.

Best place at the South Terminal is in the tunnel. Saves the walk from the terminal along the walkways to the "official" car parks and drop off/pick up zones. From the arrivals hall (which is 2nd floor) get the lift down to the ground and you'll come out under the terminal in the tunnel. To drive there come off the Beehive roundabout at the exit before the A23, drive along the perimeter road and into the tunnel. There's plenty of laybyes just be prepared to move on.
