well it failed on rear calipers plus handbrake and headlamps one being slightly higher pod and other being slightly lower, will adjust that tomorrow. handbrake turned out to be one bolt missing and one not even through the hole. having trouble getting two caliper bolts out but a night with wd40 and tomorrow some heat might persuade it. not a bad fail.

well stripped the rear brakes, luckily pistons went back ok but pads in calipers seized, pad pins seized, had to make a new centre connecting brake pipe and only half handbrake connected. headlamp problem was just a loose nut on wiper motor arm so new antirattle washer fitted. hoping to get into retest sometime tomorrow.

passed its retest. then i taxed it and took it out. i have not driven one of these before but must say how surprised i was as to its ride, very civilised with good handleing and certainly not what you think a 30 year old car would feel like. only did about 4 miles just to get it hot and gently go through the gears and get used to it. no issues with overheating or pulling to one side and such and a good exhaust note.
