I'm the same, never done it before, was tired and had already done 15 miles.... What's worse is I was overtaking a coach at the time and had to carry on dragging it for 500 meters :-(

Ironically I have this week off work... And I have been working on the other rear clip, I also have a spare rear spoliler.

Sorry to hear but sadly not uncommon for these and similar car. A bit late but I fitted a clam alarm by buying another alarm bracket and pin switch and wiring to a siren behind the drivers seat. Unless the clam was fastened shut it would go off to remind you. Also put a rocker switch in case you wanted to play in the engine bay with the ignition on or the engine running. Really worth considering.

Are you saying that you drove at speed with the rear clam unclipped? If so, sorry to hear this. I recall Mole Valley in the early days went for a run and the same thing happened - it ripped the clam off

Ye that's exactly what happened fortunately the clip didn't come off... Must admit I was applying 'light' throttle when it happened ;-) so i never noticed the braking effect, it was more the scrapping noise!

I'm over the embarrassment now and am putting a claim in

Terrible news....I`ve adopted the system of leaving the screw driver on the drivers seat when I open the rear clam. My glitch was much less dramatic but still a problem at the time - I left the special socket for the `theft proof` wheel nuts in place after torquing up the wheel nuts. (It must have come off at high speed and I hope it didn`t hit anything).

Protected NCB is such a con. I had to replace my drivers door on the Impreza after someone hit it when parked and of course drove off. Even with protected NCB they ask me about "claims in the last 5 years" and you have to be honest and they penalise you for it. Given up paying extra for protected NCB as it b****cks!

Sorry to hear about the damage Andy. Suprised JDearden hasn't done the same....although he has driven off and left his fuel cap on the roof / spoiler before!!

NCB is worth it.

If you have claimed, your renewal will go up. When you claim you loose 2 (I think yrs NCB) so therfore less of a % reuction on the renewal. With NCB protected you get the full % discount that you had last time, albeit on a now inflated premium.
