I'm planning on using the MX5 over winter so i should really get it protected, Rustmaster in Hatfield seem to be the closest professional place to me (Stevenage).

Has anybody used them?

I emailed them a few times to get a quote, but after a few attempts at contacting them they didn't get back to me, so I went else where. So no practical experience I'm afraid.

My mate used them a few years ago to do his import Mitsu Shogun .... didn't have any problems with them, I went with him to drop off and pick car up.

Seem to be fairly well respected in Land Rover circles, they have a summer offer with the vat off until the end of the month. £400 +vat for a 110, might have to get the jet wash out and buy some Dinitrol at those prices, although they would do a better job I suspect!

Mike steam cleaned and did work on my BMW. His work is excellent, a decent guy and the price is reasonable for the products used and time taken. An unusual location on a farm but you can see the results when he is steaming the underside of your car or 4x4!!!

I can't work out whether you need to sort all the rust underneath first, or whether this system stops the existing rust from getting any worse?

From what I’ve read, if there is excessive rust they won’t do the work, or at least won’t offer a guarantee. They appear to do a good job of cleaning up the underside but that won’t go so far as to include welding.

I'm fairly sure the bottom of my car is solid, but if it wasn't it would be a good idea to get any welding done first then take it to this lot for Waxoyling.

If it's just surface rust then I think the idea is that the treatment stops it getting appreciably worse.

I'll be booking the car in for early October i reckon.

A guy I work with had his S2000 done there and was very impressed with them(this guy is a real fussy bugger too!). After spending 2 weekends waxoiling all the underside of my TF a few years ago, most of which ended up on me or the garage, I would recommend getting someone else to do it!!!
