Just had this happen tonight, the console keeps locking up and showing funny colour or pixelation like its about to throw up an E74. Is there anything that I can do to sort it like x clamp or is that only for red ring?
I've had the console since 2005 so its not done bad, although its been back twice under warranty in that time of course!

is it coming up as like sort of squares with triangles or variation of?
i found the x-clamp kit and blanket treatment got mine back from the dead for a short while but this freezing up kept happening at shorter and shorter intervals so i got a new one.

Combination of the two I think. Although I've just been speaking to my brother and his old one is in my garage still and only needs a new DVD drive so I think I just need to re flash my drive to work with his.

Sounds like your graphics card is going to die, which doesn't necessarily end up as RROD, I've had it before. Microsoft fixed it for free though. But unfortunately you have to crack on until it dies properly, but it doesn't sound far away.

My extended RROD and E74 warranty expired in December last year so its well out. I'm going to have a go at flashing my dvd drive and putting it in my brothers old xbox to see if I can get that working.
