Can someone confirm that when the engine is cold the oil and water will be at whatever the room temperature is? In other words it shouldnt be reading 0. Thanks

For water temperature, here in the frozen North I was getting negative degrees Celsius readings last winter! Makes you think.
I am now looking at a heater pad for the oil, and it's almost impossible to get the oil up above 30C on a cold day. Find myself parked up waiting the the heat to get in, so I can take a "proper" drive.
