Weight of AJP and gearbox?
Discussion
as a westfield owner and being slightly concerned with weight i can say that 121 kg does not seem to represent an engine that could be considered to be installed in a car and working.....
With the changes to my car from a rover V8 engine and R380 to an AJP and T5, it is about 15kg lighter all in.
however other items are added making it more complex. i estimate an AJP weighs closer to 150kg with oil and induction, perhaps more. It still very light but not 121 in a usable state. cheers Jon

I would be very interested in the actual weight of an engine fully dressed and ready to run. As you state oil and water can be weighed easily but not an engine. When you say it is more than an S6, is that the official weight ?
As i found from actually weighing my car in various forms, there is a lot of variation in how it is quoted. Some manufacturers quote car weights with no fluids and no options fitted (ie sunroof, electric windows etc) and others do seem to add them. Most "official" weights are certainly less than what you find in reality. For me the weight of a car or component is, as installed in a car with ancillaries and fluids when it might actually be useful. I know why some manufacturers do it as a headline grabber but in reality if you take your Cerbera to a public weighbridge, you would find some wide ranges of results i bet and almost all wouldbe more than you expect? It doesn't matter that is more because all of them are and so are other car manufacturers, its not just TVR for once. cheers Jon

The other way round. The S6 is a lot heavier.Gassing Station | Cerbera | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
