Hi All,
I have put simillar question to the Audi tt 3.2 owners regarding the car with this size engine etc. As I will be looking to change next year and reasons for asking the question to you, is that I am looking for a Coupe that has timless looks, funky interior and a N/A engine that sounds like a engine should do. My price will be 6-8k maybe for the right car a little more over the 8k and I have noticed that the brera would be a possibility or even 147 gta. Regards the engine and performance can the brera 3.2 be tuned to provide good performace i.e under the 6 second mark.
regards

Hi,
I am sure you will be able to get a Brera 3.2 around £8k next year - big heavy car though, under 6 seconds acheivable but could be a big spend.
147 GTA is lighter and has the older classic arese v6 as opposed to the more modern GM based unit - 250bhp GTA feels much quicker than the 260bhp Brera due to weight and 4wd being over controlling. 6 seconds no problem in the 147 GTA - pretty much standard.
I used to own a Brera 2.4 diesel - great car but back to the classic engine Alfas for me for now. sold my 156 GTA earlier this year and currently enjoying my 147 GTA.

Cheers Dougie,
The brera looks out of this world in my oppinion and looks like a big spend to get the performance that the looks deserve. The 147 looks tasty for a hot hatch which I also considering. What are the running costs such as reliabilty and will the engine take high miles i.e 150+ like BMW's.

Alfas are just as likely to blow up before 150K miles as BMWs or Audis are. And they are just as likely to last a lot longer.
If you love the look of the Brera then it's the car for you, if you are comparing it with Audi TTs, BMW 3 Series Coupes, Nissan 350Zs then you will find it drives like a rotten turkey compared to the opposition.
I've said it here several times, I love Alfas but the Brera V6 is up there with the Arna as one of the worst cars to wear the Biscione. The Brera S does get a reprieve though.

I would not rule out the 2.2, my mildly modded(about 200 bhp)2.2 S is actually quicker in a straight line and round corners than the V6 Q4, it is approx 300kg lighter, has much shorter gearing(the V6 has very long gearing)and loses far less power in the transmission. Don't get hung up on 0-60 times, the 2.2 cannot do 60 in second gear so it needs an extra gear change which adversely affects the 0-60 time but is not a problem in the real world.
My car has the Mangos mod4 which is an adjustment to the fueling and a modified induction which sounds great.
