Now I normally just go for chicken fried rice, chicken chow mein, sweet and sour sauce and prawn crackers.

BUT

I feel like a change coming on, but I dont know what to order.

had crispy shredded beef before but as it was deep fried it was faaar to crispy for my liking.

so, over to you.

Salt and Chilli Prawns or Spare Ribs are a great starter

Singapore Chow Mein is a bit spicy but loads better than a std chow mein

Black pepper sauce is a great exchange for sweet n sour

Chinese chicken curry with fried rice is underated !

Crispy Shredded Beef is a good one

Chicken with bamboo shoots and water chestnuts

Crispy Duck - better as an eat-in chinese but can also work as a group takeaway dish

House special chow Mein is often good

Kung po is a little livelier than s&s

Anything salt and chilli or salt and pepper is good, but usually dry so needs a sauce

Black bean needs no intro

Crispy seaweed, everyone loves it even though they think they're the only one who knows it's shredded cabbage

I just tend to stay awar from syrupy dishes like lemon chicken and go for the spicier savoury dishes.

I want a Chinese now!

And conversely I can recommend it. smile

I'm also partial to char sue foo yung.

ETA: Of course, the correct answer to the question is to find a local Thai restaurant. It's chinese cooking with attitude. wink

A personal favourite is duck in plum sauce. Not crispy, just lovely moist breast meat sliced up in a sweet sauce smile

Best one we've had from our local (having also taken a concious decision to avoid our usual choices) was chicken with ginger and spring onions.

+1

I ALWAYS get a Kung Po chicken (kind of spicy sweet and sour with cashew nuts) and fried rice, along with one of the following:

- chicken with green peppers in black bean sauce (a bit of a marmite choice for some it seems)
- szechuan chicken or beef
- pattaya chicken (spicy sweet and sour - a thai dish our takeaway does)
- singapore chow mein (as said above a spicy chow mein)
- stir fried satay beef, not the satays on skewers but beef stir fried in satay sauce, very nutty and spicy

and prawn crackers are a must, used as a mini-shovel smile

Never, char siu is the worst choice of meat for a green pepper and black bean sauce - doesn't complement it at all, and duck is a bit of a 'love it or hate it' choice isn't it - the tao pan sauce perhaps a little spicy for some palates?
