'98 Freelander keeps blowing starter motor fuses
Discussion
Starter motor was replaced recently - though I suspect it may have been replaced when actually a blown fuse was the problem. Anyway, a fuse lasts a few days then it goes again. The car isn't in great shape, with various warning lights on (TC and HDC IIRC) but it's sole means of transport for a close friend and I wondered if anyone had some tips for finding the fault?
Haven't checked starter motor relay or anything yet, so all ideas welcome.
Thanks

Check the condition of all the earth leads, espically those to the engine block. Connections maybe corroded. This could be the reason the start blows a fuse as it is drawing a high current because of a high resistance connection.
If not earth leads then you need to move onto general condition of the starter circuit.
TC and HDC warning lights could be some issue with the ABS sensor units. Sensitive question, but has the underside been washed recently at all? Not that I think that excess water maybe the problem but that excess road dirt mud maybe causing issues.
Sounds like the whole thing needs a good look at to be honest
