I debated whether to post in the, Classics Left to Die Section, but as, ils sont alles, I thought that they justified their own thread.

Tragic pics and what a waste !! The Sable XJ6 was saveable, the early Mk1 Interceptor probably was and so sad re the MG ??

Very, very sad, but you can tell why it happened in the case of the first two. Neither cars are worth very much as XJ6s just aren't and the difference in price for a good and a bad Interceptor is massive. They just weren't worth restoring. Still very sad though.

That XJ6 was last on road nearly 20 years ago - chances are it may have been in an accident maybe ... it doesn't look rusty - even now! Not sure 20 years ago there was the rush to restore these cars as there would have been a load still about.

Looking at these, and walking round the old fashioned scrap yards which used to exist, is/was both sad and fascinating at the same time. I always look at these wrecks, particularly sporting models like the jenson, and picture them in their prime, being driven fast, being washed and polished, someones pride and joy etc. Imagine if you were one of the original owners of these looking on here and seeing your once beautiful car in such a statecry

20 years ago classic prices were still at stupidly high levels - about to hit the skids though...

Why should 2 owners be cause for a frown face?. I'm sure plenty of these cars ended up as scrap with one owner, 5 owners, 8 owners etc., etc.

Also, as has already been mentioned, non of us no the reason for it ending up being scrapped. It may have been an MOT failure that was too expensive to repair, it could have had a major frontal impact that bent the chassis rails back on themselves, who knows!.

DVLA SORN site.

If you know the make of the car it gives that detail.

If you only have the registration number, go to the London Congestion Charge website, say you want to pay without registering, enter the reg number and it tells you what car it is.

Most of the time.

Thanks. I knew of the DVLA site but had never heard of the congestion charge site. Hope I never need to use it 'as intended'smile
