I am going to start up a trust fund for my little girl and I also need to put the £250 cheque from the government by the end of the month and I was wondering if there's any good advice on what the best one would be. Thanks in advance.

First question are you intending to keep it as a cash ctf, or invest in stocks and shares for her?

Well that's the thing. I understand the risks with stocks by realistically it's a long term investment so Shirley the gains should be good so I am swaying that way but I uneducated when it comes to the options. Hense my post.

Watch out for fees....some of them are horrendous. If you do a search on here someone did recommend a good low cost provider before.

I can recommend F&C ; been investing for my nieces for 12 years with them. I don't use the CTF as was investing before that existed. Your obviously limited to the F&C trusts but Investment trust charges are lower than unit trusts, and F&C have been around since 1868.

Quick calculation I'd have to have got well over 7% interest every year(compounded) to get the same value as I have investing with them(despite recent set backs in the stock market)

Okay my recommendation is the CTF provided by Selftrade. The fees are very low, as are the dealing costs, and you can invest in what ever you like.

Thanks people. I'm for a little read about these two. I appreciate your input.
