I am due to swap my car tomorrow. I have the reg of the other car, the Chassis number and also the recent private reg that was on it. I have checked the history with Audi on the private plate and it comes up fine - but it's obviously now on a new plate.
I want to do a HPI but all the sites I have gone on, with the initial inpt of the reg plate (current one) they say it is not on the database - presumabley this is due to the recent plate change and not anything dodgy, I hope.
I have also checked the DVLA site, and the new plate does come up confirming the tax due date (it's currently SORN) and engine capacity, which is correct 4159cc or something (S4).
I obviously want this all tied up before travelling 150 miles.
Any advice as to how best to ensure all is legit?

Then I am doing a check on a plate that is not (technically) on the car I am buying - would this render the check invalid or invalidate the guarantee? Who is to say the plate I am checking was ever on the car - although I guess it would have to tally with the VIN.
I have a feeling it's OK but mindful of the ever elaborate scams about....

if its an older car and the guy has paperwork it will be on the MOTs, receipts etc.

Make sure you use the proper HPI website as it gives more info out than most of the others (about £20) im pretty sure there guarantee is only £3K now not the full amount you pay, i used a cheaper £10 check on another car i was looking at and some checks like outstanding finance werent included
