evening all

I went to use my CD changer for the first time and found it would recognise the CD but not play and sound through the speakers. If I turned the speakers up I could hear slight noise which makes me think it could just be the audio cable unplugged? Or is it one big plug that connects to the headunit?

Also, The car has a Parrot Bluetooth module installed, could this be causing a problem if it's been incorrectly fitted?

I'll have an investigation in the morning since It's a day off work, but any advice would be appreciated

Presume audio via the radio is grand?
If so, then the Parrot could be muting the system on the Aux/CD input.
If it mutes the radio fine, then it's an install issue.
Assuming it was installed when you bought the car, and professionally, it might be worth chatting to them, or a local outfit, and if their suggestions don't help, then contact Parrot for advice on which pins it should be connected, and see if that marries with your installation.

I would look at the changer first. There were two connectors on an OEM changer I fitted to a previous car so one of them may well be audio.

Interesting you should mention the parrot, I had one fitted to my E46 some years ago and before this the CD changer worked (The wife used it sometimes). But as I never play CD's anymore I didn't notice that it was not working until maybe 2 years later.

I have the same symptoms as you. So it must be the parrot but to be honest for me it is not worth getting it fixed as the car will be gone soon for a 330D M Sport smile

The false walls are easy to remove. Just prise the centres of the black plastic studs out with a flat blade screwdriver.

From memory:

- There's one or two holding the tray in on the boot floor (lift up boot carpet to see clips)
- One in the plastic holder which retains the warning triangle
- One up the top above the wheel arch
- (and possibly) one at the top near the light cluster (you'll need to take the back of the light cluster off too)

Honestly, it's only a 5 minute job and the CD change is easy access once you've removed the retaining clips.
